Jaisalmer during winters is AMAZING! When we came to this place, exploring eateries near Jaisalmer Fort eventually became our weekend routine. Sometimes, even weekdays would not be spared. The market area, or rather say, the fort is just a 15- 20mins drive from our place. And we were making the most of this short distance by going out to eat, a LOT! But most of the eateries around the fort are more like cafes or casual dine-outs. So, our craving for fine dining was slowly building up.

Of course, we had seen a couple of lavish hotels/restaurants on our way to Sam Sand Dunes. But we never really had explored any. Actually, we had become quite habitual of roaming around the fort and eating there. This continued until we decided to go to a different area and visit Jaisalmer Marriott on my Birthday. And here is what I have to say about it.

AMBIENCE

Marriotts are known worldwide for their overflowing luxury and this one is no different. The entrance is built of yellow sandstone which is the trademark of Jaisalmer that gives it the name of Golden City. On the inside, every corner of the hotel speaks of elegance. Everything here is chic and shiny.

As per our preference, we were guided by the staff to the dining area because we had basically come here for dinner. This part is called ‘Jaisalmer Kitchen’. I give a lot of importance to cleanliness of a restaurant and this area was squeaky clean. Apart from this, they have separate corners for Bar & Lounge, Chaat & Sweets, Rooftop Restaurant and another restaurant called Kitchen Garden where they use local ingredients to prepare healthy dishes. After dinner, we just roamed around the first two sections mentioned above, and couldn’t help but take pictures in their picturesque background.

FOOD

As we chose our place to sit at Jaisalmer Kitchen, my eyes wandered around because the buffet seemed to be huge or maybe it was because I was hungry. So, without a thought, we went ahead with their buffet. Ala Carte, next time! The food was so scrumptious that I do not remember what I ate or how much I ate. I only remember the taste which was delectable. They were freshly cooked, and the authentic taste of different cuisines were intact. For eg: Makki ki Roti with Sarson ka Saag, Ghee and Gur. OMG! Never in my life, has this dish tasted so awesome. Chinese too was lip-smacking. Move around a bit and you will notice salad, bread, desserts etc. We were so glued to the main buffet area, we missed out on some of the sections (not the desserts, of course).

SERVICE

Well-mannered and friendly especially the one we met at the entrance. He welcomed us with a warm smile on a cold-cold winter night. Later on, he even volunteered to take our pictures outside while we were leaving the hotel. My birthday celebration couldn’t have ended on a better note than this! 😀

In short, a visit to the Marriott in Jaisalmer is a must. We had come here for dinner on a winter night with no specific aim to blog about it. Hence, you’ll find just random pictures. It is only because of our experience that we had here, that I am now compelled to write this post. This is one of those places for fine dining in Jaisalmer, where you will go and not regret. I promise, I’ll update this post with better pictures when we visit it the next time😊
